Good news for Seattle Job Seekers
Saw this on the University of Washington Employment page today:
ARRA Jobs @ UW
The UW eagerly anticipates funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). We expect to open recruitment for a significant number of research-related staff positions in early May. Check back then for information about open positions and the job application process.
This is good news for Seattle job seekers who may be looking for administrative coordinator, program coordinator or research coordinator positions, lab techs, computer programmers, and IT people. Also, if some of that money goes to social science research, there may be more field interviewer positions for people who have strong soft skills but perhaps not as strong administrative skills. So check out the web page. There are a couple of research-related positions that have been posted in the last couple of months--If you're in the market for a staff job, it may be worth looking at them and starting to think about designing a specific resume for the kind of position you're looking for. In any event, it's nice to anticipate the possibility of the hiring freeze being lifted.
